“Stairway” Chainstitched Patch - Morgan Diann Collab
An exclusive collaboration with Morgan Diann Art, "Stairway” is a wearable art piece with Morgan’s original artwork hand-embroidered by Kaitlyn Anderson (Kait Makes). Combining both fine artistry, textiles, and graphics, this collaboration has been a dream of Morgan’s to create more wearable and useable applications of her art.
Each patch is stitched by hand on my Consew 104-1T. No computer embroidery here...each stitch is "drawn" by my hand directing a handle under my machine table. Due to the hand-made nature of the craft, each patch will have it's own quirks and imperfections.
Patch Dimensions: Approx. 5.25 x 5.25 inches
Details: Stitched on heavyweight scrim patch felt, no iron-on backing here. Grab a patch sew-on kit if you don't have a needle and thread at home!
Every artist I collaborate with is paid a portion of the garment or patch sale price, please know your purchase directly supports local art and keeping the art of chainstitching alive.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Known for her high contrast work in printmaking and paintings, Morgan Diann draws inspiration from the posture and posing of the Renaissance. Early on she noticed a lot of the depictions of the female form and the divine feminine were created by men. Morgan’s work is the worship of Women and Non Binary people through Nakedness, Humanity and the Divine from a Woman’s perspective. Morgan’s work and its boldness captures the attention of the viewer and connects with them on a vulnerable level.
Morgan started her art career at the age of 15, only taking a short break when she had a near death experience following the birth of her daughter. Experiencing a violent transition into parenthood changed the narrative of Morgan’s artwork. While parenthood informs her perspective; Morgan’s work is, at its core, about life, death and balance.
